Mycopunk Beginner Guide
Learn the essential Mycopunk mission loop, from the updated introductory mission and Hazard Crew selection to weapon upgrades and extraction. This guide reflects the full version 1.0 release of October 20, 2026.
- 1Complete the Fungal Moon intro mission, which replaced the earlier tutorial in the August 2026 update.
- 2Choose a Hazard Crew employee, equip weapons, and play solo or team up in online co-op with up to four players.
- 3Choose a mission and threat setting, then deploy on New Atlas to pursue its main objective.
- 4Fight the fungal-infected machines, collect resources, and watch for enemies picking up parts from defeated enemies.
- 5Do optional side objectives for extra rewards, including increased chances for Lottery Larry tokens.
- 6Call the extraction Drop Pod after completing the objective. Under the 1.0 rules, the mission fails if no player gets aboard.
- 7Return to the HUB, fit collected upgrades into your grid, and save your upgraded loadout before the next mission.
Mycopunk Characters and Abilities
Meet all five playable employees, including the Mycologist added in the 1.0 update. Each entry focuses on developer-confirmed abilities and playstyle mechanics instead of a speculative character tier list.
Uses Air Dash for mobility; official update notes also identify Rocket Jump and Yank em! as Wrangler upgrades.
Uses Nose Dive and Shield Projector, with upgrades such as Hard-Light Prison and Optical Attraction.
Uses grapple and jetpack mechanics, supported by upgrades such as On The Go and Burst Release.
An airborne employee with salvo rockets; the Kernel Rerouter upgrade modifies the rockets' health cost according to target locks.
The 1.0 employee uses Sporelift, Fungal Skewer, and passive infection. Rescue her in Expedition Alpha to unlock her.
Mycopunk Weapons and Unlocks
Explore officially documented guns and gadgets, including the newly added Diffraction Driver and Snowball Grenade. Confirmed unlock requirements are included where the developer provides them, without fabricated DPS statistics or tier rankings.
An ion scattergun whose short-range cone can be narrowed and extended by spinning its halo; unlock with resources after level 10.
A piercing weapon that becomes unlockable only after completing the Overtime Assignment.
Can equip Subzero Energy, an upgrade that makes bullets apply cryo at the cost of fire rate.
Has flamethrower and airborne-damage upgrade paths, including Pesticide and All Powdered Up.
Uses DMR and laser firing modes; Stormcloud Accumulator makes either mode spawn cryo shards.
Places plates; the new Charging Port upgrade intermittently heals players standing on them.
A cryo grenade added in version 1.0 and unlocked through the X11-B region.
Mycopunk Upgrades and Builds
Master the grid-based build system, stacking rules, Infusion Effectiveness, and saved loadouts. These steps use named upgrades and confirmed October 2026 changes instead of inventing a definitive best-build tier list.
- 1Collect weapon and employee upgrades from missions, then arrange their patterns within the relevant upgrade grids.
- 2Choose a build direction such as elemental damage, mobility, healing, or crowd control, and match upgrades to your character's abilities.
- 3For cryo damage, try Cycler with Subzero Energy or DMLR with Stormcloud Accumulator, both documented in the 1.0 patch notes.
- 4Check which upgrades can stack: version 1.0 explicitly allows Cycler's Double Shot and Elemental Discharge to stack.
- 5Watch Infusion Effectiveness: shrinking an upgrade's pattern generally weakens its stats, while expanding it strengthens them.
- 6Hold CTRL on keyboard or L3 on controller in the upgrade screen to inspect the order in which upgrades apply.
- 7Save useful configurations as loadouts and review their modifications before choosing your next mission.

Mycopunk Ouroboros Guide
Explore Ouroboros, Mycopunk's roguelike mode built around consecutive levels, shops, and a changing selection of upgrades. Official announcements document its progression systems but do not support claims about fixed optimal routes or guaranteed drops.
